b. Training Duration
Initial safety training duration
- Total training time is at least 24 hours, including examination time.
- 8 hours of theory on policies and laws regarding occupational safety and hygiene
- 8 hours of theory on basic knowledge of occupational safety and hygiene
- 4 hours of theory on specialized training content
- 2 hours of practical training on specialized content
- 2 hours of final theoretical examination
The safety training center will distribute training sessions depending on teachers’ schedules. Typically, there will be 6 sessions, and the course will last 3 days, provided the manufacturing enterprise can arrange continuous training time.
Periodic safety training duration
- Before the occupational safety card expires, employees seeking re-issuance must undergo periodic occupational safety training, with training duration at least 50% of initial training duration.
Explanation: total periodic occupational safety training time is at least 12 hours, including examination time. After completing the periodic training and passing the test, employees will be re-issued or extended their occupational safety card.

d. Occupational Safety Card
After completing the occupational safety training and passing the examination, employees will be issued a occupational safety card (commonly called occupational safety certificate group 3).
The group 3 safety card shows information such as name, date of birth, job, and specific working environment. It also includes training duration, official seal, and signature confirming completion of the training.
According to regulations on card issuance specified in Clause 2 of Article 24 of Decree 44/2016/ND-CP, there are two cases:
- If the employer and employee have a labor contract, the employer must sign, stamp, and seal the occupational safety card for group 3 employees after completing training from the occupational safety training unit and passing the examination.
- If the employee is freelance or temporary without a labor contract, the training unit must sign, stamp, and seal the occupational safety card after the employee completes training and passes the test.
