1. Why is Occupational Safety Training Important?
Occupational safety training is an essential part of an effective and sustainable work environment. It is not only a legal requirement but also a commitment to the safety and health of employees. Safety training helps workers recognize and respond to hazards and dangerous situations during work, helping them avoid accidents, injuries, or fatalities in daily tasks.
Workplace accidents can have serious consequences for businesses, ranging from loss of workforce to costs of compensation and damage repair. Safety training helps minimize these risks, saving costs and maintaining profitability. Employees trained in safety usually work with more careful attention and follow processes more conscientiously, which can lead to increased work performance and reduced downtime due to accidents.
2. Workplace Accident Risks Can Happen Anytime
Workplace accident risks are always present and can occur at any time. This emphasizes the necessity of occupational safety training and why everyone should remain vigilant. Here are some reasons why these risks always exist:
- Human error possibility: Employees, regardless of skill or experience, can make mistakes at work. This can include lack of attention, skipping a step in a process, or misjudging a situation, which can be enough to cause an accident.
- Unpredictability: Even with safety measures and rules in place, humans cannot always foresee every situation. Accidents often occur when an unexpected situation arises and employees do not know how to respond.
3. Penalties for Violations of Occupational Safety Laws
- The first risk of not receiving Occupational Safety Training is a higher likelihood of workplace accidents. Employees may suffer minor or severe injuries, and sometimes fatalities, if a workplace accident occurs, creating burdens for families and society.
- Additionally, Article 35 of the Law on Occupational Safety and Hygiene stipulates that employers are responsible for establishing an onsite Accident Investigation Team to investigate minor and serious workplace accidents under their management authority.
- When an accident occurs, work progress is interrupted, causing production delays and increasing costs for businesses.
- Businesses risk violating occupational safety laws if they employ workers who have not received OST training. Penalties according to Clause 1, Article 24, Decree 28/2020/ND-CP are as follows:
- 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND for violations involving 1 to 10 people
- 10,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND for violations involving 11 to 50 people
- 20,000,000 VND to 30,000,000 VND for violations involving 51 to 100 people
- 30,000,000 VND to 40,000,000 VND for violations involving 101 to 300 people
- 40,000,000 VND to 50,000,000 VND for violations involving more than 301 people

Participating in occupational safety training benefits not only employees but also positively impacts businesses. A trained worker understands potential workplace hazards and knows how to prevent accidents, reducing risks of injury or fatality and helping businesses avoid legal and financial consequences.
Accidents can lead to significant costs, such as insurance payments, accident handling, or compensations. By investing in safety training, businesses can minimize these expenses.
Participating in safety training helps businesses comply with occupational safety laws and regulations, reducing risks of lawsuits or fines from authorities. See safety training pricing for more options.
