2. Overview of the work safety training course for drivers

a. What is work safety training for drivers?

• Work safety training for drivers consists of classes that equip employees with awareness on how to prevent work accidents. Accordingly, those working in the driving profession are subjects belonging to group 3.
• The work safety training course will help employees recognize and prevent dangers, and limit the risks of work accidents during work.

b. Training time

Initial safety training time

• The total training time is at least 24 hours, including examination time.
• 8 hours of theoretical study on the policy system and laws on work safety and hygiene
• 8 hours of theoretical study on basic knowledge of work safety and hygiene
• 4 hours of theoretical study on specialized training content
• 2 hours of practical training on specialized training content
• 2 hours of theoretical examination at the end of the training course

The safety training center will divide the time into several training sessions depending on the time arrangement for employees. But usually, there will be 6 training sessions, and the course will last 3 days, provided that the manufacturing company can arrange continuous study time.

Periodic safety training time

• Before the work safety card expires, if the employee wants to get it reissued, they must undergo a periodic work safety training course, with the periodic safety training time being at least 50% of the initial safety training time.

Explanation: The total periodic work safety training time is at least 12 hours, including examination time. After completing the periodic training course and passing the required test, the employee will be reissued or have their work safety card renewed.

d. Work safety training certificate

After completing the work safety training course and passing the exam, the employee will be granted a work safety certificate for group 3.

The work safety card will clearly show information such as: full name, date of birth, specific job and working environment. It also includes the training time, a red stamp and signature confirming completion of the training course.

According to the regulations for issuing a safety card as stated in clause 2 Article 24 of Decree 44/2016/ND-CP, there are two cases:

1. In the case where the employer and the employee have an **employment contract** with each other, the employer must sign, stamp and affix a seal to the safety card for the trained person belonging to group 3 after undergoing the training course from the work safety training unit and passing the exam.
2. In the case of a freelancer or seasonal worker, who does not have an employment contract, the training unit must sign, stamp and affix a seal to the safety card for the employee after undergoing the training course from the work safety training unit and passing the exam.

3. Identifying risks in the driving profession

The driving profession is a profession with many potential risks of collisions when participating in traffic. Collisions cause significant damage to both the driver and those around them, and can even result in death when a traffic accident occurs. Therefore, drivers should meet safety standards before operating vehicles in traffic.

• Reversing a vehicle with many blind spots without a guide can cause collisions or run over people and other vehicles.
• Driving over the speed limit on a restricted or densely populated road, where traffic accidents are likely to occur when passing through areas with high traffic density.
• Reckless overtaking in the opposite direction when going around curves with poor visibility, which can cause a head-on collision with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
• Drivers working continuously for too long, leading to sleep deprivation while operating the vehicle.
• Drivers using stimulants, drinking alcohol while operating a vehicle in traffic.
• Making a left or right turn with an oversized vehicle that has many blind spots behind, which can cause collisions with vehicles traveling parallel.
• Vehicles carrying bulky, unsecured goods can fall and crush other vehicles or pedestrians.

4. Safety measures for the driving profession

Timeliness and on-time delivery are the wishes of most transport companies.
