District 9 Hi-tech Park (Saigon Hi-tech Park – SHTP), was established on November 15, 2002, under Decision No. 154/2002/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister of Vietnam. District 9 Hi-tech Park is located on an area of 913 hectares in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

2. Overview of the safety training course at District 9 High-Tech Park

a. What is occupational safety training?

• The occupational safety training course in Ho Chi Minh City is an intensive training program on occupational safety for those working in the fields of industry, construction, manufacturing, and other high-risk professions. This training course is organized by Nam Viet occupational safety training centers at District 9 High-Tech Park.
• In this course, trainees will be provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure safety for themselves and colleagues during work. Training topics include legal regulations on occupational safety, identifying and assessing potential risks, methods of inspecting and maintaining safety equipment, first aid skills, and handling emergency situations.
• For enterprises, providing occupational safety training for employees not only helps improve employees’ capacity and work efficiency but also ensures compliance with occupational safety regulations of the law and minimizes the risk of workplace accidents in the manufacturing and business process.

b. Training duration

Occupational safety training duration depends on many factors such as the type of work, industry… However, the exact total training time for each group is regulated in Article 19 of Decree 44/2016/ND-CP

• Group 1: 16 hours

• Group 5: 16 hours
• Group 6: 4 hours

c. Training content

Occupational safety training content includes the necessary knowledge and skills to minimize the risk of workplace accidents, ensuring the safety of workers and company assets. Specifically, occupational safety training may include the following content:

1. Knowledge of occupational safety laws, state and company occupational safety regulations.
2. Knowledge of risks and types of workplace accidents in the working environment.
3. Skills and methods of using personal protective equipment and common protective equipment.
4. Methods to minimize the risk of workplace accidents, ensuring safety during work.
5. How to handle dangerous situations and organize rescue operations when workplace accidents occur.
6. Knowledge of protecting the working environment.

In addition, training content can be adjusted to suit each industry and specific working conditions.

d. Occupational safety training certificate

Occupational safety and hygiene training certificate

• The occupational safety and hygiene training certificate template is described in detail in form 08 of appendix II of decree 44/2016/ND-CP and is issued to groups 1, 2, 5, 6.
• Accordingly, the certificate has a size of 13 cm x 19 cm, its front cover is sky blue.

Occupational safety card

• The occupational safety card template is described in detail in form 06 of appendix II of decree 44/2016/ND-CP
• Workers in group 3 will be issued an occupational safety card (commonly referred to as occupational safety certificate for group 3).
• Accordingly, the card has a size of 60 mm x 90 mm, the content of the front and back sides is shown as in the picture below.

The employer may issue group 3 occupational safety cards to trainees who have completed the training and passed the assessment, provided there is a labor contract between both parties.

Training record book

• The training record book for groups 1, 2, 5, 6 is described in detail in form 09 of appendix II of decree 44/2016/ND-CP.
• The training record book for group 3 is described in detail in form 10 of appendix II of decree 44/2016/ND-CP
• The training record book for group 4 is described in detail in form 11 of appendix II of decree 44/2016/ND-CP
• Group 4 is only issued a training record book without a group 4 safety certificate.
• The content in the group 4 training record book is shown as in the picture below.
