1. Overview of An Duong Industrial Park
a. History of An Duong Industrial Park
Through a challenging and demanding journey, An Duong Industrial Park in Hai Phong city has marked a significant milestone in Vietnam’s economic development history. With continuous growth and adjustments over time, this industrial park has become a symbol of innovation and new opportunities for both domestic and foreign investors.
Initially, in 2008, An Duong Industrial Park was approved and added to the city’s industrial planning. The initial area was expected to reach 800 ha, but it was later adjusted down to 196 ha to ensure efficiency and suitability for current economic development needs.
Phase 1 of the An Duong Industrial Park project was established in December 2008, invested by Tham Viet Investment Union Co., Ltd, a partnership between Hai Phong city and private investors from Shenzhen city. With a total investment of USD 175 million and a 50-year operational period, the project brought hopes for breakthrough economic development in the region.
However, the project faced several challenges. Difficulties in compensation and site clearance caused delays and obstacles. To address these challenges, in 2012 and 2017, An Duong Industrial Park underwent detailed 1/2000 planning adjustments to ensure smoother implementation. The relocation of planning to Bac Son and Nam Son communes, An Duong district, facilitated the attraction of investment projects.
