According to information from the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, the preliminary cause was determined to be the carelessness of workers during the construction and repair process of the ORIENTAL GLORY vessel.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 8:45 AM on February 2, in hold No. 5 of the ORIENTAL GLORY, a 68,000-ton cargo ship flying the Vietnamese flag and docked for repairs at Nosco ShipYard Joint Stock Company (Tien Phong Commune, Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh), a work accident caused by a fire and explosion injured 8 workers.
The confirmed information about the accident on the 68,000-ton cargo ship, which injured 8 workers in Quang Ninh, prompted a large-scale rescue operation. The Quang Ninh Provincial Police quickly mobilized 3 fire trucks, 50 officers, and coordinated with Nosco ShipYard and Quang Yen Town authorities to organize a focused rescue operation to ensure the safety of the victims.
At the same time, all 8 victims, workers from Hull Workshop No. 3 of Nosco Shipyard Joint Stock Company, were promptly taken for emergency treatment at Viet Nam – Sweden Hospital (Uong Bi City) and Quang Yen Town Medical Center. Among them, 3 were seriously injured and 5 had minor injuries. By around 11 AM the same day, the authorities had extinguished the fire.
