b. Training duration

Initial safety training

• Total training hours are at least 24 hours, including testing time.
• 8 hours of theoretical learning on safety policies and labor hygiene laws
• 8 hours of theoretical learning on basic occupational safety and hygiene knowledge
• 4 hours of theoretical learning on specialized training content
• 2 hours of practical learning on specialized training content
• 2 hours of final theoretical test

The safety training center divides the time into multiple sessions depending on the employees’ schedules. Usually, the course consists of 6 sessions over 3 days, provided the manufacturing company allows continuous training time.

Periodic safety training

• Before the occupational safety card expires, workers who want renewal must undergo periodic occupational safety training, with the periodic training duration being at least 50% of the initial training duration.

Explanation: The total periodic occupational safety training time is at least 12 hours, including testing. After completing the periodic training and passing the test, the worker will be reissued or have their occupational safety card extended.

d. Occupational safety card

After completing the occupational safety training and passing the test, workers will be issued a safety card (commonly called a Group 3 safety certificate).

The Group 3 safety card displays information such as name, date of birth, job, and specific working environment. It also includes training duration, a red stamp, and signature confirming course completion.

According to regulations in Clause 2 of Article 24 of Decree 44/2016/ND-CP, there are two cases:

• If the employer and employee have a labor contract, the employer must sign, stamp, and certify the safety card for the Group 3 trainee after completing the training and passing the test.
• If the worker is freelance or seasonal and does not have a labor contract, the training organization must sign, stamp, and certify the safety card after the worker completes the training and passes the test.
