Group 2 Occupational Safety Training is a course that provides safety knowledge for full-time or part-time safety officers and personnel responsible for safety work in enterprises. Accordingly, the occupational safety training content mainly focuses on in-depth safety management, occupational hygiene, and specialized training topics.
1. What is Group 2 Occupational Safety Training
- Occupational Safety Training Group 2 is a course that equips trainees in Group 2 with professional knowledge of occupational safety and hygiene. Accordingly, the training content closely follows Article 18 Decree 44/2016/ND-CP.
- Group 2 occupational safety training is a program designed for employees working in industries such as manufacturing, construction, services, transportation, and other sectors.
- Group 2 includes individuals working in environments with high risk of occupational accidents or potential hazards to their own health and the health of others. This training program provides knowledge on identifying and avoiding dangerous situations, safety and health protection skills, as well as raising awareness and responsibility of employees in maintaining a safe working environment. This helps enhance workplace safety and reduce accidents and other hazards.

2. Duration of Group 2 Occupational Safety Training
a. Initial Group 2 Safety Training Duration
- Total duration of training is at least 48 hours, including testing time.
- 8 hours of theory on the system of policies and laws on occupational safety and hygiene
- 23 hours of theory on occupational safety and hygiene professional knowledge
- 4 hours of practical training on occupational safety and hygiene professional knowledge
- 1 hour of testing on occupational safety and hygiene professional knowledge
- 6 hours of theory on specialized training content
- 2 hours of practical training on specialized training content
- 2 hours of theoretical testing at the end of the training course
- 2 hours of practical testing at the end of the training course
The safety training center will arrange the schedule into multiple sessions depending on the employee’s availability. Typically, there are 12 training sessions for Group 2, conducted over 6 days, provided the enterprise can arrange continuous training time.
b. Periodic Group 2 Safety Training Duration
Before the Occupational Safety Training Certificate expires, employees who wish to renew it must undergo periodic occupational safety training, with periodic training duration being at least 50% of the initial training duration.
This means the total duration of periodic Group 2 training is at least 24 hours, including testing time. After completing the periodic training and passing the assessments, employees will be reissued and their Group 2 Occupational Safety Training Certificate extended.

4. Group 2 Occupational Safety Training Certificate
- After completing the Group 2 occupational safety training course and passing the assessment, employees will be issued a Group 2 Occupational Safety Training Certificate (also called Occupational Safety Certificate for Group 2)
- The certificate includes detailed information such as full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, national ID or citizen ID, position, and workplace. It also shows the training duration, red stamp, and the signature confirming completion of the course by the General Director of Nam Viet Safety Training and Environmental Monitoring Company Limited.

6. Disadvantages of Not Receiving Group 2 Occupational Safety Training
- Individuals in group 2 will not acquire basic knowledge, legal policies on occupational safety and hygiene, or professional skills in safety and hygiene work.
- Their chances of being selected for positions in group 2 jobs will significantly decrease.
- They will not be equipped with practical skills for safety work, including establishing internal regulations, inspections, training, monitoring, and first aid for occupational accidents.
- Businesses risk violating occupational safety laws if they employ workers who have not received safety training. Specific fines are regulated in Clause 1 of Article 24 Decree 28/2020/ND-CP as follows:
- From 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND for violations involving 01 to 10 people
- From 10,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND for violations involving 11 to 50 people
- From 20,000,000 VND to 30,000,000 VND for violations involving 51 to 100 people
- From 30,000,000 VND to 40,000,000 VND for violations involving 101 to 300 people
- From 40,000,000 VND to 50,000,000 VND for violations involving 301 people or more
